If you wish to use hoopla you must have a valid Wilmington Public Library card in good standing (i.e. not expired, and fines below $5.00) and an email account.  Once you enter your email account and create a password it will ask you allow it find your location. Allow it and Wilmington Public Library will be among the top choices. After you select our library you will be asked to enter your library card number and your PIN. If you do not know your pin please call us and we can help you with that. After you have registered you will login using the email and password you made.

In order to provide a digital service with unlimited checkouts we get charged for each checkout. Initially we are allowing 4 checkouts per library card per month until we can gauge the demand and the proper budget. If we see the usage is low we will increase the allowable checkouts. if we see we have underestimated the demand we will increase our budget. If you check out music you will get the entire album for one checkout.  Items checked out on a PC will require an internet connection and are streamed.  This is to protect the publishers from piracy. If you check out items on a device like a tablet or smartphone you can download the items to the device and use while not connected to the internet. So you can download them and use them on an airplane. You can also add hoopla to your streaming television devices like Amazon fire stick, Roku, Google TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, and others…
