Friends of the Library
We are looking for a few good “friends”. A Friends Group is a volunteer group that helps the library work on projects and also assists with fund raising.

Anyone in Wilmington is welcome. Questions? Call Mary Soucie at 476-2834 or email at mjsoucie@wilmingtinlibrary.org.

New Audio Book Subscription Services
Wilmington Public Library has joined ListenIllinois, a project of The Metropolitan Library System, to provide patrons with access to thousands of downloadable audiobooks for all ages.

Patrons can select from the most comprehensive collection of audiobooks in the state. Many titles can be downloadable to your personal computer and transferred to a portable listening device (PDA, MP3 player, etc.) or burned to CDs.

Downloadable audiobooks in ListenIllinois' catalog are provided by three different vendors: Audible.com, Recorded Books, and OverDrive. Why three vendors/services? When combined, the three services offer over 4,000 titles.

Digital audiobooks from OverDrive and Recorded Books can be downloadable to your personal computer and transferred to a portable listening device or, in some cases, burned to CD. These titles are available for download 24/7. They cannot be downloaded to library computers.

Titles from Audible.com are downloaded in the Library, by Library staff, and circulated on Library-owned MP3 players. See a Librarian or the ListenIllinois FAQ for details on borrowing Audible.com titles.

Ask Away Illinois New Reference Service
Ask Away Illinois is a virtual reference service that allows patrons to chat online with a librarian 24/7. Questions can also be submitted via email.
